This week’s learning

Our role play area has been transformed into a jungle and the children have been very busy exploring it: hiding in the den and dressing up as different animals.  We modelled being a ‘jungle explorer’ and spotting different animals in the Nursery! They are getting very good at naming and describing different animals for example, a tiger has sharp teeth and black stripes. The children enjoyed reading and joining in with the book of the week, Dear Zoo, and we talked about why different animals would not make good pets.  We looked at photographs of snakes and talked about the patterns they could see and then demonstrated making repeating patterns.  During free flow, the children had the opportunity to make ‘pasta snakes’ using a repeated pattern.  On the craft table the children have enjoyed making their own animal masks.
