Poppy Appeal

From Monday 14th, you will be able to make donations for The Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal. Please look out for the children at Avenue and Dorset Road gates who will be taking donations. There is not a set amount for the paper poppies, however the larger items are either 50p or £1. We will also have a collection at the main school office. Thank you for your support.

Reading books

Today the children will receive a reading book and their green home school liaison book.  All children will start off with a picture book to develop their comprehension skills. Please ask your child questions about the story and encourage them to make observations about what they can see. We encourage regular reading at home and ask that you use the home school liaison book to comment on your child’s reading. The children will read with an adult once a week and twice every other week.

Happy reading!

Harvest – Thank You

To celebrate Harvest Festival, we had an assembly delivered by Sutton Schools Workshops, where we discussed how we can share with others who are not so fortunate. We would like to thank you all for your Harvest donations again this year. Each year we donate to Sutton Foodbank and they were very grateful for your generosity.

Our Interests Hook Day

This is a reminder that our hook day is on Thursday 26th September. The children will have the opportunity to share their interests and will take part in a Reception parade.

We are inviting the children to come to school dressed as anything that they are interested in e.g. an outfit from a children’s show/book. An alternative to dressing up is for your child to bring in an object/cultural item related to their interests e.g. favourite story, animal. Please ensure objects and books are named clearly.
